Description
The Atlantic/Caribbean Blue Tang, known for its vibrant blue coloration, is a popular choice in saltwater aquariums. As juveniles, they start off yellow and gradually shift to a stunning blue with unique patterns as they mature. They are peaceful when young but can become more territorial as they grow.
These herbivores are excellent for controlling algae in a reef environment, though they require a steady diet of seaweed and marine-based plant foods to thrive. Due to their active swimming habits, they need a large aquarium with plenty of swimming space and rockwork for shelter.
Though reef compatible, they may show aggression towards other tangs, especially those with a similar shape or color. It’s best to keep them in larger tanks with non-aggressive tank mates.
