Description
The Banded Coral Shrimp Blue/Purple (Stenopus hispidus) is a rare and stunning color variation of the more common Banded Coral Shrimp, with shades of blue or purple adding vibrancy to its iconic red and white bands. Its long, banded pincers and striking appearance make it a favorite among marine aquarists. This shrimp also performs an important cleaning role in the aquarium, feeding on detritus, uneaten food, and sometimes external parasites from fish. This shrimp is semi-aggressive, particularly towards other shrimp or invertebrates, so care must be taken when housing it with similar species. It prefers a tank with plenty of hiding spots like crevices and caves in the rockwork, and it becomes more active at night. Diet includes meaty food such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and chopped marine flesh. Approximate Purchase Size: 1.5″ to 2.5″
