Description
The Banded Coral Shrimp Gold (Stenopus hispidus) is a unique variation of the well-known Banded Coral Shrimp, displaying a striking gold, red, and white coloration. This shrimp species has long, elegant antennae and distinct banded pincers, which make it a visually appealing addition to any marine tank. Known for its role as a cleaner shrimp, it helps to keep the tank clean by consuming uneaten food, algae, and parasites off fish. Though reef-compatible, the Banded Coral Shrimp Gold can sometimes exhibit aggressive tendencies, especially toward other invertebrates or small shrimp. Care should be taken when introducing it into a tank with other species. It prefers to stay in caves or crevices and typically becomes more active during the evening or nighttime. Diet includes meaty foods like brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and small crustaceans. This species thrives in established aquariums with plenty of live rock and hiding spaces.
