Description
The Banded Snake Eel, with its striking black and white banded pattern, resembles the venomous sea snake but is harmless to humans. It is a peaceful species that burrows in the sand, using its sharp snout to hunt for small crustaceans and fish. This nocturnal predator is best housed in a tank with a soft substrate and plenty of hiding spots, such as rocks or caves.
Though reef compatible, care should be taken to ensure that tank mates are not small enough to be viewed as prey. It requires a spacious tank due to its large size and active nature, and should only be kept by experienced aquarists due to its specialized care requirements.
