Description
The Berghia Nudibranch is a small, unique marine invertebrate highly valued in reef aquariums for its natural ability to control Aiptasia populations. This peaceful nudibranch is a specialist feeder, consuming Aiptasia anemones, a common pest in marine aquariums. Its pale, translucent body with delicate cerata (finger-like extensions) gives it a fascinating appearance, especially in a reef setting.
Due to its dietary specificity, the Berghia Nudibranch is a suitable addition for aquarists dealing with Aiptasia infestations, as it will consume the anemones until the population is depleted. However, once Aiptasia is eradicated, additional care must be taken to either rehome the nudibranch or provide a supplemental source of Aiptasia, as it will not accept other foods.
The Berghia Nudibranch is reef-compatible and will not harm corals, fish, or other invertebrates. It thrives in stable water conditions and requires a mature, well-maintained aquarium for optimal health. While relatively hardy, this nudibranch is sensitive to sudden changes in water parameters.
