Description
The Black Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris), also known as the Black Percula or Black Clownfish, is a unique color variant of the popular Ocellaris Clownfish. These captive-bred fish are highly sought after for their bold black bodies contrasted by bright white bands. This color morph is developed through selective breeding, making them a stunning and peaceful addition to any reef or community aquarium.
Like other Ocellaris Clownfish, the Black Ocellaris is hardy, easy to care for, and ideal for beginner aquarists. It coexists peacefully with a wide variety of tank mates and is reef-safe, making it an excellent choice for reef tanks. These clownfish may also form symbiotic relationships with anemones, although they can thrive without one.
The Black Ocellaris is an omnivore and will accept a variety of foods, including high-quality pellets, flakes, and frozen foods. Offering a balanced diet will ensure optimal health and vibrant coloration.
As a captive-bred species, these clownfish are more adaptable to aquarium life and tend to be hardier than wild-caught specimens. A minimum tank size of 20 gallons is recommended, and they can be kept singly, in pairs, or in small groups depending on the size of the tank. Their peaceful nature and striking appearance make them a standout choice for any marine aquarium.
