Description
The Blue Head Wrasse (Thalassoma bifasciatum) is an attractive and dynamic addition to any saltwater aquarium. Known for its striking blue head contrasted by a yellow and green body, this wrasse brings a burst of color and activity to reef and community tanks. Its peaceful nature makes it an excellent choice for beginner and experienced aquarists alike.
Originating from the Western Atlantic, the Blue Head Wrasse is an adaptable fish that thrives in tanks with ample swimming space and plenty of live rock for hiding. It is known to coexist well with a variety of tank mates and adds a lively dynamic to community tanks. As a carnivore, it will readily accept meaty foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and finely chopped marine fare.
The Blue Head Wrasse is relatively easy to care for, tolerating a wide range of water conditions. However, it is known for its active nature and occasional tendency to jump, so a secure tank lid is recommended. With a maximum size of around 7 inches, a tank size of at least 55 gallons is advised for optimal comfort and health.
