Description
The Blue Stripe Grouper is a visually striking fish known for its deep red body contrasted by bold blue stripes, making it a captivating addition to large marine aquariums. This grouper is semi-aggressive and best suited for a species-specific setup or with other large, robust fish that can handle its territorial nature.
A native of reef slopes and rocky crevices, the Blue Stripe Grouper thrives in spacious aquariums with plenty of hiding places and rock formations. As a carnivore, it requires a diet rich in meaty foods such as shrimp, squid, and small fish. Feeding it a varied diet ensures it maintains its vibrant coloration and robust health.
Although it can be kept in reef tanks with caution, the Blue Stripe Grouper may prey on small fish and invertebrates, so it is not ideal for tanks with delicate or small inhabitants. Due to its size and active nature, a tank of at least 180 gallons is recommended to provide adequate space and maintain water quality. With proper care and tank conditions, the Blue Stripe Grouper can become a long-term, stunning centerpiece in a large marine setup.
