Description
The Blue Velvet Angelfish, also known as the Blue Mask Angelfish, is a stunningly beautiful fish with a deep blue and black body, highlighted by a bright yellow tail and striking blue accents on its face. Its vibrant colors and graceful movements make it a showpiece in any large marine aquarium, but it requires specialized care, making it suitable only for experienced aquarists.
Native to coral-rich reef environments, the Blue Velvet Angelfish is semi-aggressive and should be housed in a large tank with ample space and hiding spots among live rock. It may show territorial behavior, especially in smaller tanks, and is best kept with other robust fish to ensure peaceful coexistence.
This angelfish has an omnivorous diet and needs a mix of high-quality marine algae, spirulina, and meaty foods like mysis shrimp and chopped seafood. Though not fully reef-safe, it may do well in carefully managed reef tanks with tougher corals, as it may nip at softer corals and invertebrates.
The Blue Velvet Angelfish is a captivating and rewarding species for advanced hobbyists, bringing elegance and vibrant color to a well-maintained, spacious marine setup.
