Description
The Bumblebee Shrimp is a unique and attractive addition to marine aquariums, recognizable by its striking pattern of black, white, and yellow bands. This small shrimp is often sought after by hobbyists for its intricate coloring and fascinating behavior. Though peaceful in temperament, the Bumblebee Shrimp is best kept with non-aggressive tank mates and within well-established aquariums that offer plenty of hiding spaces.
In the wild, Bumblebee Shrimp are often found around sea urchins, and in the aquarium, they are known to appreciate similar protective structures. These shrimp are carnivorous and may feed on small invertebrates, detritus, and meaty foods provided in the aquarium. While generally considered reef-safe, caution is advised, as they may pick at certain small organisms in a reef setting.
To keep Bumblebee Shrimp in optimal health, it’s essential to maintain stable water parameters and offer a varied diet with meaty foods such as mysis shrimp and finely chopped seafood. Given their small size and delicate nature, they are best housed with other peaceful tank mates. Due to their size and sensitivity, these shrimp are recommended for intermediate to advanced aquarists who can provide them with a stable and safe environment.
