Description
The Red Carpet Anemone, also known as the Red XXL Carpet Anemone, is a captivating and vibrant anemone known for its striking red or pink coloration and large, textured surface. Its vibrant appearance and size make it a visually impressive centerpiece for large reef tanks. However, due to its specialized care requirements, it is best suited for experienced aquarists capable of maintaining stable water conditions and providing proper nutrition.
Native to shallow reef environments, the Red Carpet Anemone requires a spacious aquarium with a sand or rocky substrate that allows it to anchor securely. This anemone is semi-aggressive, and its potent sting can harm neighboring corals or fish that venture too close. Caution is advised when placing this anemone in a reef tank, as it needs adequate space from other inhabitants.
This carnivorous anemone benefits from supplemental feeding with meaty foods such as shrimp, fish, and other small marine prey. Its large size and carnivorous diet mean it may require regular feeding to maintain its health, especially in systems with limited natural prey availability. Carpet Anemones also require moderate to high lighting and gentle water flow to mimic their natural environment.
