Description
The Eclipse Hogfish (also known as Coral Hogfish or Bodianus mesothorax) is a strikingly beautiful fish with a dramatic color gradient from a deep purple head to a bright yellow body and black midsection. Its peaceful temperament makes it a great addition to community tanks, though it may display territorial behavior toward other hogfish or small fish if housed in too small a tank.
This species is a carnivore and thrives on a diet of meaty foods such as shrimp, clams, and krill. The Eclipse Hogfish is generally reef-safe but may pose a threat to smaller invertebrates like snails or crustaceans. It is relatively easy to care for, making it suitable for intermediate to advanced aquarists.
