Description
The Eibli Angel (Centropyge eibli), also known as the Eibli’s Angelfish or Orangelined Angelfish, is a stunning dwarf angelfish species known for its distinctive grey body with horizontal orange stripes and a yellowish undertone. Native to the Indo-Pacific region, this species is a popular choice for aquariums due to its moderate care requirements and vibrant appearance.
The Eibli Angel is semi-aggressive, particularly toward other dwarf angelfish, so it’s best housed with peaceful to semi-aggressive tankmates. It thrives in tanks with plenty of live rock for grazing on algae and hiding spots, which help to reduce territorial aggression.
As an omnivore, the Eibli Angel requires a diet that includes both meaty foods like mysis shrimp and brine shrimp, as well as plenty of marine algae and spirulina to mimic its natural grazing behavior.
While the Eibli Angel can be kept in a reef tank, caution is advised, as it may nip at soft corals, clam mantles, and other invertebrates. It is generally safer to house this species in fish-only tanks or carefully monitored reef setups.
The Eibli Angel is an excellent choice for experienced aquarists looking to add a moderately-sized, colorful, and active fish to their aquarium. Its unique coloration and dynamic personality make it a beautiful and captivating addition to a well-maintained marine system.
