Description
The Firefish Goby is a beautiful and resilient fish known for its graceful body and vibrant colors. With its body transitioning from a soft white to a bold orange and finally a fiery red at the tail, it brings a burst of color to any aquarium. Its distinct dorsal fin, which can be raised like a flag, adds elegance to its appearance.
Native to the reefs of Africa, this goby is a peaceful addition that pairs well with other non-aggressive species. The Firefish Goby thrives in reef settings, where it can dart between rocks and crevices for security. It is best housed in a tank with plenty of hiding spots, as it can be shy initially.
As a carnivore, it prefers a diet rich in small, meaty foods, such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Feedings should be small and frequent to accommodate its smaller size.
Due to its peaceful nature, the Firefish Goby should be kept with similarly non-aggressive tankmates. A secure lid is recommended, as this fish is known to jump when startled.
