Description
The Flame Angel is one of the most beautiful and popular dwarf angelfish, featuring a striking red-orange body with vertical black stripes and bright blue accents along the fins. This small to medium-sized angelfish brings a vibrant splash of color to any marine aquarium and is highly sought after by hobbyists for its lively nature and brilliant hues.
Native to the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific, the Flame Angel thrives in tanks with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding. While it can be housed in reef tanks, caution is advised as it may nip at corals and clams. A diet of marine algae, spirulina, and meaty foods like mysis shrimp is recommended to keep this angelfish healthy and maintain its vivid colors.
Reaching a maximum size of 4 inches, the Flame Angel is suitable for tanks of at least 55 gallons. Its semi-aggressive temperament means it can coexist with other fish but may show territorial behavior, especially in smaller tanks. With proper care, the Flame Angel makes a stunning addition to any saltwater aquarium.
