Description
The Desjardini Tang, also known as the Sailfin Tang from the Red Sea, is a stunning addition to large aquariums with its mesmerizing mix of stripes and spots. It has a predominantly yellow and blue coloration, accented with intricate patterns that vary between stripes on the body and spots near the face. The sail-like dorsal and anal fins give this tang an imposing presence when fully extended, making it a focal point in any tank.
This tang requires a large tank of at least 180 gallons with plenty of swimming space and live rock to graze on algae, which forms a significant part of its diet. It is a herbivore but may occasionally accept frozen foods. Though generally peaceful, it can become territorial with other tangs, especially in smaller tanks.
Ideal for reef tanks, the Desjardini Tang is reef-safe and beneficial for algae control. Regular maintenance of water quality and an enriched diet will help this tang maintain its brilliant colors and overall health. Its stunning appearance and vital role in the ecosystem make it a favorite among marine aquarium enthusiasts.
