Description
The Golden Hawk (Cirrhitichthys aureus) is a compact, vibrant yellow fish distinguished by its striking gold coloration and curious demeanor. Often perched on rocks or coral branches, this hawkfish species brings a dynamic presence to any aquarium with its watchful, inquisitive nature.
Native to Indo-Pacific reefs, the Golden Hawk is semi-aggressive and may establish territory, especially in smaller setups, making it ideal for tanks with plenty of rockwork for perching and hiding. This hawkfish is compatible with most tankmates but may display aggression towards smaller fish or ornamental invertebrates.
As a carnivore, the Golden Hawk thrives on a diet of frozen or live meaty foods like brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Although reef-compatible with caution, it may nip at small invertebrates or crustaceans.
