Description
The Honeycomb Leather Jacket Filefish (Pervagor janthinosoma) is a striking fish known for its intricate honeycomb-like pattern on a deep brown to black body, with hints of blue accents around the face. This semi-aggressive filefish is native to Indo-Pacific reefs and makes a unique addition to large marine aquariums. While generally peaceful, it may display territorial behavior, especially in smaller tanks or around similarly sized fish.
As an omnivore, the Honeycomb Leather Jacket Filefish enjoys a varied diet that includes both meaty foods and algae. It is reef-compatible with caution, as it may occasionally nip at corals or small invertebrates. A spacious tank with at least 100 gallons and plenty of rockwork is recommended to accommodate its active swimming habits and provide hiding spots.
