Description
The Blue Line Triggerfish (Pseudobalistes fuscus) is a stunning and powerful predator known for its brilliant blue and yellow body adorned with vibrant horizontal lines. This species, native to the Indo-Pacific region, is admired for its striking appearance but requires expert care due to its size and highly aggressive temperament.
As one of the more aggressive species of triggerfish, the Blue Line Triggerfish is best suited for a very large, predator-specific tank or with other equally aggressive and robust tank mates. It should not be kept with small or peaceful fish, as it may show extreme territorial and predatory behavior.
This triggerfish is carnivorous and thrives on a diet of meaty foods, including shrimp, squid, clams, and small fish. Due to its large size and appetite, the Blue Line Triggerfish needs frequent, hearty meals to maintain its health and vibrant coloration.
Because of its aggressive nature and tendency to rearrange its environment, it is not recommended for reef tanks, as it may damage corals and hunt invertebrates. A tank size of at least 300 gallons is required to accommodate this active swimmer, providing plenty of space for it to move and establish territories.
While the Blue Line Triggerfish is not for the faint of heart or inexperienced aquarist, it can be a magnificent and long-lasting addition to a well-maintained predator tank for those up to the challenge.
