Description

The Lavender Tang is a graceful saltwater fish known for its muted lavender body and vibrant yellow accents, which can range from subtle hints on the fins to a bold yellow dorsal fin. The caudal fin and tail often exhibit a striking blue or violet hue, giving this species an elegant and visually stunning appearance in any aquarium setting.

As with most tangs, the Lavender Tang is an active swimmer and requires ample space to roam. It can display semi-aggressive behavior, particularly toward other tang species, so it’s important to monitor tank mates. In reef aquariums, it is considered reef-safe, making it a great addition to community tanks.

This tang primarily feeds on algae and should be provided with a diet rich in marine-based vegetation such as seaweed and algae sheets. Its grazing habits help maintain the cleanliness of live rock surfaces. Regular water changes and stable water parameters are essential for the well-being of this beautiful species.
