Description
The Long Tentacle Anemone – Red is a rare and striking species, highly sought after by aquarists for its vibrant red coloration and unique structure. Known for its long, flowing tentacles, this anemone can add a captivating focal point to a well-maintained reef tank. Native to sandy and rocky bottoms of reef environments, it thrives with ample space to extend its tentacles.
The Long Tentacle Anemone is semi-aggressive, with potent stinging cells to protect itself and capture prey. Care should be taken when placing it in a reef aquarium, as it may sting nearby corals or other invertebrates. Suitable tank mates include clownfish, which may form a symbiotic relationship with the anemone, enhancing both species’ well-being.
In terms of care, the Long Tentacle Anemone requires stable water conditions and moderate lighting. Its diet consists of meaty foods like small fish or shrimp, which can be offered several times a week. This anemone should only be kept by aquarists with some experience due to its moderate care level and specific needs. Proper placement in the aquarium with a sandy substrate will support its natural behavior of burrowing and attaching to the substrate.
