Description

The MX Turbo Snail (Turbo fluctuosa), also known as the Mexican Turbo Snail, is a hardy and efficient algae grazer highly regarded for its algae-cleaning abilities. Sporting a rugged, spiral shell, the MX Turbo Snail adds texture and visual interest to the aquarium while actively controlling algae growth on rocks, glass, and other surfaces, helping to keep the aquarium environment clean and balanced.

This snail is native to the rocky intertidal areas of the Gulf of California and can be found grazing on algae in a wide range of reef and fish-only tanks. The MX Turbo Snail is particularly valuable in newly established tanks, where algae blooms are common. Its peaceful demeanor makes it a perfect addition to reef tanks, where it coexists peacefully with fish, corals, and other invertebrates.

The MX Turbo Snail requires stable water conditions to thrive, with optimal salinity, temperature, and alkalinity levels, as extreme fluctuations may stress the snail. As an herbivore, this snail may need supplemental algae-based foods in cases of insufficient natural algae in the tank. It also prefers plenty of live rock to graze on and find shelter, though it’s crucial to provide a secure rock arrangement since these snails are known for their strength and may dislodge unsecured objects in the tank.

With minimal care requirements and beneficial algae-eating habits, the MX Turbo Snail makes a valuable addition to any marine aquarium, especially those prone to algae growth.
