Description
The Purple Linkia is a captivating starfish that brings a unique and visually appealing aspect to marine aquariums. Known for its deep purple coloration and intricate dark patterns, this sea star is particularly popular among reef aquarists. The Purple Linkia is reef safe and generally peaceful, making it a suitable addition to aquariums with corals and other invertebrates.
Native to the Indo-Pacific, this species prefers a stable, mature aquarium with plenty of live rock, which it will graze on for biofilm, algae, and detritus. As an omnivore, it will also appreciate supplemental feeding with small pieces of meaty foods or seaweed if natural algae growth is insufficient.
Although moderately hardy, the Purple Linkia requires pristine water conditions and stable salinity. It can be sensitive to fluctuations in water parameters, so it is best suited for more experienced aquarists. With proper care, the Purple Linkia can thrive and add beauty to a well-established reef tank, where it will actively explore rockwork and crevices.
