Description
The Purple/Strawberry Dottyback is a small yet vibrant marine fish that stands out due to its striking solid purple coloration. This fish’s vivid hue makes it a popular choice for reef tanks, where it adds a splash of color and personality.
Originating from the Indo-Pacific region, the Purple Dottyback is easy to care for and a great choice for beginner and experienced aquarists alike. Though small in size, it has a semi-aggressive temperament, especially toward smaller or similarly-sized tank mates. It is, however, considered reef-safe and does not pose a threat to corals or invertebrates.
A carnivorous species, this dottyback enjoys a varied diet of meaty foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. It can grow to a maximum size of 3 inches and is suitable for aquariums as small as 30 gallons. Despite its small size, the Purple Dottyback’s bright color and bold personality make it a striking addition to any reef or community aquarium.
