Description
The Red Scooter Blenny (Synchiropus stellatus), also known as the Starry Dragonet, is a beautifully patterned fish featuring a mix of red, brown, and white hues with splashes of blue and yellow on the fins. This small and active fish is known for its “scooting” movement across the tank’s substrate while searching for food.
Scooter Blennies are peaceful and can be kept in reef tanks, where they blend seamlessly with corals and rockwork. They have a carnivorous diet, mainly consisting of live foods like copepods and brine shrimp. Due to their dietary needs, a mature tank with an established population of microfauna is essential.
They are reef-safe and are generally compatible with other peaceful tank mates, though males of the same species can be territorial. Their vibrant colors and playful behavior make them a popular choice among aquarists with experience in feeding picky fish.
