Description
The Scooter Blenny (Synchiropus ocellatus), also known as the Ocellated Dragonet, is a beautifully patterned fish with a peaceful nature. Known for its reddish-brown body with unique white markings, this fish adds subtle yet intriguing color to reef aquariums. This species is best suited to mature tanks with plenty of live rock that provides natural grazing areas for small invertebrates, a crucial part of its diet.
Scooter Blennies are carnivores, feeding primarily on small crustaceans, and may require live food or supplemental feedings of meaty items like copepods or brine shrimp. Peaceful and reef-safe, it is best kept with other non-aggressive tankmates. Its endearing behavior of “scooting” along the sand bed and rockwork makes it a fascinating fish to observe in the aquarium.
