Description
The Sharpnose Puffer (Canthigaster rivulata) is a captivating species known for its distinctively shaped body and vibrant coloration. With a background of yellow and blue spots, this small pufferfish adds a splash of color to any aquarium setting. Native to the reefs of the Indo-Pacific, it is often found in shallow waters among coral rubble and sandy substrates.
This species is semi-aggressive and can exhibit territorial behaviors, particularly towards its kind or similarly sized fish. Although the Sharpnose Puffer primarily feeds on small invertebrates, it is an omnivore and will benefit from a varied diet that includes meaty foods and vegetable matter. While it can coexist with reef inhabitants, caution is advised as it may nip at corals or invertebrates. Providing ample hiding spots and swimming space is essential for its well-being in a community aquarium.
