Description
The Punctato Butterflyfish (Chaetodon punctatofasciatus), also known as the Spot-banded Butterflyfish, is a visually stunning species with a distinctive pattern of spots and vertical yellow bands running across its body. The gradient of colors from yellow to orange and the dark speckling on its lower body give it a striking appearance, making it a captivating addition to any marine aquarium. This species is native to the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific region and thrives in a peaceful aquarium with plenty of swimming space and live rock. While generally peaceful, the Punctato Butterflyfish requires careful monitoring in reef tanks as it may nip at soft corals, anemones, and small invertebrates, hence it is considered reef compatible with caution. This species enjoys foraging among live rock and should be kept in a well-established tank with stable water conditions. As an omnivore, the Punctato Butterflyfish should be offered a varied diet consisting of both meaty foods like mysis shrimp and finely chopped seafood, as well as algae-based foods. With the right care and environment, this fish can flourish in captivity and bring vibrant color to a peaceful community aquarium. Approximate Purchase Size: 3″ to 5″
