Description
The Spotted Jellyfish (also known as the White-Spotted Jellyfish) is a fascinating species admired for its gentle appearance and unique spotted bell. Unlike many marine organisms, Spotted Jellyfish require specialized care and a unique tank setup to thrive. They are best suited for advanced aquarists who can meet their specific environmental needs.
Native to the Indo-Pacific, this jellyfish has a peaceful temperament and poses no threat to other marine life. However, it is not reef compatible due to its unique swimming requirements and the potential for stinging. These jellyfish thrive in a dedicated jellyfish tank, typically with a circular flow to support their movement and prevent them from becoming trapped or damaged by tank structures.
Spotted Jellyfish are filter feeders, relying on plankton and other microscopic organisms for sustenance. In an aquarium setting, they benefit from regular feedings of small planktonic food or specialized jellyfish food. Stable water conditions, including proper salinity, temperature, and pH, are crucial for their health, and they require low to moderate lighting, as intense lighting may stress them.
