Description
The Japanese Swallowtail Angelfish, also known as the Spotbreast Angelfish, is a peaceful and reef-safe angelfish that exhibits sexual dimorphism. Males have bold black stripes across a silver-white body, while females display a soft yellow-to-white gradient. This makes it an attractive and unique addition to community and reef aquariums alike.
Native to the Western Pacific, this angelfish thrives in well-established aquariums with plenty of swimming space. The Japanese Swallowtail Angelfish is completely reef-safe, making it an ideal choice for reef tanks, as it does not nip at corals or invertebrates. It is relatively easy to care for, provided a balanced diet of marine algae, spirulina, and meaty foods such as mysis shrimp is offered regularly.
Growing up to 7 inches, this angelfish requires a tank of at least 125 gallons. Its peaceful temperament allows it to coexist with a variety of other fish species, making it a perfect addition to community setups. With its graceful appearance and calm demeanor, the Japanese Swallowtail Angelfish is a beautiful and low-maintenance choice for marine enthusiasts.
