Description
The Three Banded Pennant Butterflyfish (Heniochus chrysostomus), also known as the Three Banded Bannerfish, is a distinctive marine species with three bold black bands running vertically across its body, accented by its long white dorsal fin that resembles a pennant. Its unique appearance and peaceful demeanor make it an attractive addition to any large, well-established aquarium. Native to the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific, this species thrives in tanks with plenty of open swimming space and live rock for shelter. Though the Three Banded Pennant Butterflyfish is generally peaceful, it should be monitored in reef environments, as it may nip at soft corals and small invertebrates. It is best suited for aquariums with other non-aggressive fish. This species is moderately hardy and can adapt well to a captive environment if proper care is provided. As an omnivore, the Three Banded Pennant Butterflyfish should be fed a varied diet, including meaty foods like mysis shrimp and finely chopped seafood, along with algae-based foods. Regular feeding will help maintain its health and vibrant coloration. Approximate Purchase Size: 3″ to 5″
