Description
The Tiger Wardi Goby (Amblygobius phalaena), also known as the Ward’s Sleeper Goby, is a peaceful and hardy species ideal for both beginner and experienced aquarists. With its attractive blend of brown, white, and orange stripes, this goby adds character to the aquarium’s lower regions and helps keep the sand bed clean.
Known as a carnivorous sand sifter, the Tiger Wardi Goby will sift through substrate in search of small invertebrates and food particles. This behavior not only provides essential nutrition but also helps aerate the substrate, promoting a healthy aquarium environment. Feeding can include meaty foods like brine shrimp and finely chopped seafood to supplement its natural foraging.
A gentle and reef-compatible species, the Tiger Wardi Goby thrives in a tank with plenty of sand, rocks, and hiding spots. It is most comfortable in smaller groups or as a single specimen in smaller tanks and will often form symbiotic relationships with certain invertebrates, creating fascinating behavior for the aquarist to observe.
