Description
The Cinnamon Clownfish (Amphiprion melanopus), also known as the Red and Black Anemonefish, is an attractive and hardy species with a striking red-orange body, black underbelly, and a bold white stripe across its face. This vibrant clownfish adds a pop of color to any aquarium and is well-suited to both beginner and experienced aquarists alike.
Cinnamon Clownfish are known for their adaptability and can thrive in a variety of tank conditions. However, they may become territorial, especially when paired with anemones or during breeding, leading to semi-aggressive behavior toward other tank mates. They form symbiotic relationships with anemones in the wild, but they can also thrive in tanks without one.
As omnivores, they require a varied diet of meaty foods like brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and high-quality pellets or flakes to maintain their health and vibrant colors. The Cinnamon Clownfish is reef-compatible and can live peacefully with most corals and invertebrates.
A minimum tank size of 30 gallons is recommended to accommodate the active swimming habits of the Cinnamon Clownfish. Their hardy nature and ease of care, coupled with their beautiful appearance, make them a fantastic addition to both reef and community tanks.
