Description
The Railway Sleeper Goby, also known as the Two Stripe Sleeper Goby, is a peaceful and resilient addition to marine aquariums. This goby features distinctive horizontal stripes of brown, white, and yellow, resembling the appearance of railway tracks, which contribute to its common name. It is a great choice for beginner aquarists due to its hardy nature and ease of care.
Native to sandy and rubble zones in tropical reefs, the Railway Sleeper Goby sifts through the sand in search of small invertebrates and detritus, helping to keep the substrate clean. It’s generally peaceful and pairs well with other non-aggressive species, though it may become territorial toward other gobies in smaller tanks. This species thrives in a reef environment and is reef-compatible, making it a good fit for both fish-only and reef aquariums.
This goby is a carnivore, primarily feeding on small crustaceans and invertebrates. In captivity, it can be offered a varied diet of frozen or live foods like mysis shrimp and brine shrimp. Regular feedings help to ensure it remains healthy and active.
