Description
The Whitetail Pygmy Angel is a beautiful and compact species, known for its vibrant colors and distinctive white tail. Its dark blue and purple body transitions into an orange hue near the head, creating a striking contrast. As a member of the Pomacanthidae family, it is popular for its unique appearance and semi-aggressive behavior.
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, the Whitetail Pygmy Angel thrives in well-established aquariums with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding. While it may nip at soft corals and clam mantles, it can coexist peacefully in reef setups with caution.
Feeding this species a varied diet of marine algae, spirulina, and meaty foods like mysis or brine shrimp helps maintain its vibrant colors and overall health. It is best to house the Whitetail Pygmy Angel in tanks of 55 gallons or larger, with plenty of swimming space and hiding spots to manage its territorial behavior.
