Description
The Ultra Flower Anemone (Epicystis crucifer) is a vibrant, show-stopping anemone known for its striking color variations that may include a range of red, green, blue, and purple hues. This anemone is a popular choice for reef aquariums due to its brilliant appearance and moderate care requirements, making it suitable for hobbyists with some experience in marine life care.
Native to the tropical waters of the Caribbean, the Ultra Flower Anemone is unique for its relatively compact size and colorful, petal-like tentacles. While it does not grow as large as some other anemone species, it will still require sufficient space and stable water conditions to thrive. In the aquarium, it may choose a specific location with moderate water flow and lighting, and once settled, it is unlikely to wander unless disturbed.
This anemone is carnivorous and benefits from periodic feedings of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or finely chopped seafood. Though primarily photosynthetic, supplemental feeding will help maintain its vibrant colors and overall health.
Reef Compatibility: While the Ultra Flower Anemone can coexist with corals in a reef tank, caution is advised, as it may sting neighboring corals or other invertebrates if it comes into contact with them. Providing ample space around the anemone will help minimize these risks.
With proper care, stable water conditions, and a balanced diet, the Ultra Flower Anemone can make a dazzling addition to a well-maintained reef or marine aquarium, bringing a splash of color and natural movement to the setup.
