Description
The Yellow Mimic Tang (Juvenile Chocolate Tang) is a bright yellow fish that closely resembles the Yellow Tang during its juvenile stage, which makes it a stunning addition to any aquarium. As it matures, the fish undergoes a color transformation, changing to a more brownish-yellow hue, resembling the adult Chocolate Tang.
This species is relatively peaceful but can display territorial behavior, particularly towards other tangs. It’s best housed in a large tank with ample swimming space and live rock to graze on algae. The Yellow Mimic Tang is reef-safe, posing no threat to corals or invertebrates.
It thrives on a herbivorous diet rich in marine-based algae and seaweed. This fish is a great choice for aquarists seeking a striking and vibrant fish in its juvenile phase, and a more subtly colored but equally fascinating adult in the later stages.
