Description
The Yellow Pyramid Butterflyfish (Hemitaurichthys polylepis), also known as the Yellow Zoster Butterflyfish, is a striking addition to large, established aquariums. With its bold white body and vibrant yellow upper half, this fish adds a dynamic visual impact. Native to the reefs of the Indo-Pacific, it thrives in tanks with plenty of swimming space and stable water conditions.
Though generally peaceful, the Yellow Pyramid Butterflyfish may nip at certain corals, so it is considered reef-compatible “With Caution.” Ideal tankmates include other peaceful species that allow it to exhibit its natural schooling behavior. As a planktonivore, it feeds on floating zooplankton in the wild and will benefit from a diet of fine frozen and live foods such as mysis and finely chopped shrimp in the aquarium. While hardy once acclimated, this species is sensitive to changes in water quality, making stable, high-quality water conditions crucial for long-term success.
