Description
The Yellow Rabbitfish (Siganus corallinus), also known as the Golden Rabbitfish, is a popular addition to marine aquariums for its bright yellow coloration and algae-eating habits. This peaceful fish is a great asset to reef tanks where algae control is essential, as it consumes various algae types, helping maintain a balanced ecosystem.
Native to the Indo-Pacific, the Yellow Rabbitfish thrives in tanks with plenty of swimming space and live rock for grazing. While generally reef-safe, it may nip at certain soft corals if algae sources are insufficient, so it is categorized as reef-compatible “With Caution.” This species does best with peaceful tankmates and a well-structured environment. Despite its hardy nature, be cautious when handling or transferring the Yellow Rabbitfish, as its dorsal spines are venomous and can cause painful stings. Regular feeding with marine algae or prepared herbivore diets will ensure its health and vibrant color.
