Description
The Blue/Green Gudgeon (Ptereleotris heteroptera) is an elegant, slender fish with a beautiful blue-green coloration, making it a striking addition to any saltwater aquarium. These fish have elongated bodies and are known for their peaceful nature, making them ideal for community and reef setups.
Native to reef environments, Blue/Green Gudgeons are relatively hardy and adapt well to aquarium life. They are peaceful and do well with other small, non-aggressive tank mates. However, they may be timid and benefit from plenty of hiding places among live rocks to retreat to when needed.
As carnivores, Blue/Green Gudgeons thrive on a diet of small meaty foods, such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular feeding with a varied diet helps maintain their vibrant color and health.
These gudgeons are reef-safe and won’t bother corals or invertebrates, making them an excellent choice for reef tanks. A minimum tank size of 30 gallons is recommended, with moderate water flow and stable conditions. They tend to do well in pairs or small groups, where they often exhibit playful interactions, adding dynamic movement to the aquarium.
