Description
The Flame Hawkfish (Neocirrhites armatus) is a bright, vibrant red fish with striking black markings, particularly along the back. This species is a favorite among marine aquarium hobbyists due to its bold coloration and personality. Flame Hawkfish are known for perching on rocks or coral branches, from which they observe their surroundings and strike at passing prey.
Despite its small size, the Flame Hawk can be quite territorial, especially toward smaller fish and invertebrates, making it important to carefully choose tank mates. This species thrives in a well-established aquarium with plenty of hiding spots and rock formations.
While it can coexist in a reef environment, caution is advised, as it may pose a threat to ornamental shrimp and smaller invertebrates.
