Description
The Swalesi Basslet, also known as the Swales Swissguard Basslet, is a vibrant and peaceful marine fish prized for its striking red and orange stripes and unique black spots near the tail. This basslet is ideal for small to medium-sized reef aquariums due to its manageable size and compatibility with other peaceful species. It is a reclusive fish, often seeking shelter in rockwork, so aquarists should provide plenty of hiding spots to help it feel secure.
Native to the Indo-Pacific, the Swalesi Basslet is well-suited to reef environments, where it can coexist peacefully with corals and invertebrates. Its small size and calm demeanor make it an excellent choice for community reef tanks, though care should be taken to avoid housing it with overly aggressive fish.
As a carnivore, the Swalesi Basslet requires a protein-rich diet. It will thrive on a varied menu that includes mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped marine meats. Multiple feedings per day are recommended to keep this active fish well-nourished and healthy.
