Description
The Blunt Head Wrasse is a large, visually appealing wrasse species featuring a mix of green, yellow, and blue hues, which bring a tropical look to spacious marine aquariums. Known for its peaceful disposition, the Blunt Head Wrasse is a relatively easy-going fish, making it compatible with other peaceful and semi-aggressive tank mates.
Native to coral reefs and rocky areas, this wrasse requires a well-established tank with ample live rock for hiding and exploration. As a carnivore, it thrives on a diet of meaty foods like mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped marine proteins. Due to its size and active nature, it needs a large tank with open swimming spaces and a few hiding spots.
The Blunt Head Wrasse is reef-compatible with caution, as it may occasionally snack on smaller invertebrates. A minimum tank size of 125 gallons is recommended to accommodate its active swimming habits. This hardy and peaceful wrasse is an excellent addition for intermediate aquarists looking for a vibrant and robust fish to add color and movement to their marine setup.
