Description
The Flame Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus jordani), specifically the female, is a beautifully colored wrasse known for its vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow. Native to the Hawaiian Islands, this fish adds a vivid splash of color to any marine tank. While male Flame Wrasses display bolder color patterns, the female is equally attractive with softer yet stunning hues.
The Flame Wrasse is a peaceful species that does well in community and reef aquariums. It is generally reef safe and will not bother corals or invertebrates, making it a perfect addition to a reef setup. These fish are active swimmers and enjoy open spaces, along with plenty of rockwork for hiding and exploring.
As a carnivore, the Flame Wrasse thrives on a varied diet of meaty foods, including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other high-quality frozen or freeze-dried foods. Regular feedings will help maintain its bright coloration and health.
The Flame Wrasse does best in tanks with a secure lid, as it may jump. A minimum tank size of 55 gallons is recommended to provide ample swimming space and environmental enrichment.
