Description
The Scissortail Dartfish (Ptereleotris evides) is a slender, graceful fish named for its distinct forked tail, which it moves like scissors as it swims. With a sleek silver body and highlights of black and yellow on its fins, this dartfish adds a striking yet peaceful presence to any aquarium. Its ease of care makes it a great option for beginner aquarists.
A carnivore by nature, the Scissortail Dartfish feeds on meaty foods like plankton and mysis shrimp. It thrives in peaceful reef aquariums with plenty of swimming room and a tight-fitting lid, as this species is known to jump. Though relatively easy to care for, it does best when kept with other peaceful species and in an environment that offers open water as well as hiding spots.
