Description
The Broom Tail Wrasse (Red Sea Juvenile) is a captivating fish known for its striking blend of green, blue, and yellow coloration, which becomes even more vibrant as it matures. As a juvenile, it displays more subdued colors and patterns, making it a visually appealing addition for larger marine tanks with plenty of rockwork and open space.
Native to the Red Sea, this wrasse is a semi-aggressive carnivore and requires a spacious tank of at least 180 gallons to accommodate its active swimming and eventual large size. It should be housed with similarly robust fish, as it may exhibit territorial behavior, especially in smaller tanks. Though often kept in fish-only tanks, it may be reef-compatible with caution, as it could prey on small invertebrates.
The Broom Tail Wrasse thrives on a protein-rich diet of meaty foods, such as shrimp, squid, and marine fish preparations. Its active and curious nature makes it an engaging fish to observe, and it adds both beauty and movement to the aquarium. Suitable for intermediate to advanced aquarists, this wrasse requires consistent care and a stable environment to thrive.
