Description
The Dragon Face Pipefish (Syngnathus colubrinus) is a stunning and unique marine species known for its elongated body and striking coloration. With vibrant greens, yellows, and pinks adorned with intricate striping, this pipefish is a beautiful addition to any marine aquarium.
Native to shallow waters of the Indo-Pacific, the Dragon Face Pipefish thrives in environments rich in seagrass, coral, and other structures where it can hide and camouflage. This species is peaceful in nature and is best kept in a community tank with other peaceful fish that won’t harass it.
In terms of diet, the Dragon Face Pipefish is a carnivore that primarily feeds on small crustaceans and zooplankton. A varied diet, including live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp and mysis shrimp, is essential for maintaining its health and well-being.
This species is reef compatible and poses little threat to corals and invertebrates, making it suitable for reef tanks. However, a minimum tank size of 30 gallons is recommended to provide adequate space for swimming and hiding, as well as to accommodate their feeding habits.
