Description
The Spotted Mandarin Dragonet (Synchiropus picturatus), also known as the Psychedelic Mandarin or Spotted Mandarin, is a visually stunning fish with vibrant, intricate patterns of spots and swirls. Its body is adorned with blue, green, orange, and black spots, creating an almost otherworldly appearance.
This dragonet is peaceful and well-suited for reef aquariums, but it requires an established tank with live rock to support its diet of copepods and other small invertebrates. Due to its dietary needs, the Spotted Mandarin is best kept by more experienced aquarists who can provide sufficient live food or are willing to train it to eat prepared foods. Its shy nature also makes it a good addition to community tanks with other non-aggressive species.
