Description
The Red Head Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus solorensis), also known as the Solor Wrasse, is a striking species with a vibrant red head and greenish-blue body, making it a colorful and attractive addition to any marine aquarium. Native to the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific region, this wrasse is highly active and can add both color and energy to a large tank.
This species can display semi-aggressive behavior, especially toward smaller or more docile fish. It is best housed with other semi-aggressive species or in a tank large enough to provide plenty of swimming space and hiding spots. The Red Head Wrasse prefers a well-established tank with live rock for hiding and grazing.
As a carnivore, the Red Head Wrasse thrives on a diet of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. A varied diet will help maintain its vibrant colors and overall health.
While generally considered reef compatible, the Red Head Wrasse should be kept with caution in a reef environment, as it may nip at small invertebrates or disturb sensitive corals. This makes it best suited for fish-only or large, carefully monitored reef systems.
With its vibrant coloration and lively behavior, the Red Head Wrasse makes a stunning and dynamic addition to any large, well-maintained marine aquarium.
